Intrinsic Knowledge and Original Sin

The physiology professor just finished saying that his class was the only one to allow a working model of what you are studying into the exam with you. Of course he was referring to the human body. What we are studying is ourselves and therefore the answers are found within us. My query is that if the answers are inside me right now, how come I don’t intrinsically know them already? Who do I know better than myself? Physiology as a science should not have to exist because everyone should know how the body works, and how cell function etc. because they have them and use them. I should know exactly what is happening in my body at all times. I mean, I control it... don’t I? If I have the power to tell my limbs when and how to move, I have the power to say things that I think, why don’t I have the power to determine how much sodium is going in and out of those little channels?
Turn off sodium-potassium pump. There I just tried really hard to think about it and turn it off. Why can’t I? Reason: Original Sin and The Subconscious.
There was a time when the subconscious didn’t exist. Before the Exile form Eden, the Garden of Plenty, humans could control every aspect of their bodies. This is why Adam and Eve never got sick. They simply willed foreign pathogens out of their bodies. When the two lovebirds were kicked out, God realized that humans were not responsible enough to control their entire bodies. Humans just had too much going on with their wars and fighting to pay attention to their bodies anymore. Hence we have “two” brains; one we can control and the other we cannot. This is supported by anatomy, as when looking at the brain it is clearly divided into two hemispheres; one for conscious thinking and one for subconscious thinking.
Control of our own cells should be within reach with nothing more than concentrating really hard. Think of the possibilities: you would be able to eliminate lactic acid as you generated it, or you could effectively fight off infection and disease. If everyone were given this power, then cancer would be eliminated. That’s a comforting thought. What would be the drawbacks though to having a total conscious body? I think that we would go mad. If you had to control all of your body’s cells, your mind would be overwhelmed in seconds. Perhaps it is more effective to have a switch on/off switch so that you could check up on your body when need be. Like Norton Anti-virus, always working in the background but you don’t have to sweep for viruses yourself you can just check and see how the computer is doing and make adjustments as necessary.
Brain increase endorphins. Damn. All that happened was my back started hurting again. Maybe someday we’ll have control.
